Contemporary Landscape Workshops at Cuckoo Farm Studios
Just completed this weekend a very satisfactory workshop a Cuckoo Farm Studio with two of our regular students who even the snowy day couldn't put off. Working from A3 landscape photographs given the weather outside we developed our sketches first of all in terms of shapes and lines, creating a tonal composition with an underpainting in three tonal colours. as part of the underpainting, we added texture with sand and acrylic mediums.
From there we progressed building up the colour layers, exploring colour mixing to create harmonious palette. Working with various mediums, we worked colours as a more liquid glaze for certain areas and with gels to give relief in other. Slowly building up the final compositions.
