Going back to pencil and stronger watercolours, we begin to pull back the image. Remember that in reality yellows cannot be seen at a distance, so keep the yellows in the foreground. Red is a strong focus colour so useful for your main point of interest. Shadows are not black or grey but usually bluish in tone. So use your Ultramarines and Violetes to create shadow areas. Brown tend to muddy things so specially in the beginning stay away from Brown. Mixing a bit of Raw Sienna or Yellow Ochre to colours will help mute them without making them muddy.
